Instructors at Extra Innings

Extra Innings offers individualized, year round professional baseball and softball instruction. Our staff uses a uniform step-by-step teaching system to encourage positive progress with all our students.

The Extra Innings staff features former and current professional players, college all-stars, and area college and high school coaches.

Stephen A. Markey, III – Owner/Instructor

Stephen A. Markey, III – Owner/Instructor

Steve has over 25 years of experience as a player, coach and manager for baseball and softball. He has coached girls' softball and boys' baseball, and has been a player and a coach on various mens' softball teams. Steve has also coached soccer and basketball and has run strength and conditioning clinics. Steve also has experience running numerous baseball camps. Steve has provided instruction for players from T-Ball to high school, including Rec ball, Travel, and Metro. Steve has represented and currently represents numerous professional baseball players. Steve's day job consists of practicing law and running the Law Offices of Stephen A. Markey, III. P.C.

 
Sam Snider – Extra Innings Instructor

Sam Snider – Manager/Director of Instruction

Sam spent 28 years with the Baltimore Orioles Organization. He was hired in 1980 as a batting practice pitcher. He moved to full time status for Cal Ripken Sr. as a bullpen catcher in 1987. He spent 21 years as bullpen catcher and acting bullpen coach. He has caught such greats as Mike Mussina, Tippy Martinez and Mike Flanagan. Sam spent 2008 and 2009 with the York Revolution of the Atlantic Independant League as the hitting/third base coach. Additionally, he was interim manager of the team during the 2009 season. Sam is available for hitting, pitching, catching & fielding lessons.

 
Adrian Parkes, CSCS – Assistant Manager and Director of Strength and Conditioning

Adrian Parkes, CSCS – Manager/Director of Next Level Sports Performance

Ade has a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Wesley College and is pursuing his Masters of Science degree in Human Movement, concentrating in Sports Conditioning. He was the conditioning and fitness coach for Walsall Professional Soccer team in Walsall, England and was a strength and conditioning coach for Wesley College Women's Soccer team. Ade has run the fitness programs for soccer camps at Wesley College and Gettysburg College. Ade played four (4) years for the Mens' Soccer team and three years for the mens' Tennis team at Wesley College. Ade is an NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist and is CPR/AED certified. Ade is available for one on one training, group training and team training.

 

Mike Trott – Baseball Instructor

Mike graduated from Franklin High School while playing baseball football, wrestling and basketball. After earning All-American, All Metro and Team Maryland honors in baseball he attended Essex Community College help leading them to a national ranking in 1997. Mike has over 8 years of coaching experience including over 5 years at the collegiate level. He has served as Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Baltimore City Community College, North Greenville University, and at CCBC-Essex Community College. He then went on to be Associate Head Coach at Baltimore City starting up their program. During the summers Mike has also served as Pitching Coach in the Southern Collegiate League, and Coastal Plains League. He has also worked at the Cal Ripken Senior Camp, and at the TPX Top 96 camps. He has also worked as a strength and conditioning coach. He has trained 1st Round draft picks, Cameron Maybin, Jason Place, and Justin Jackson. Mike is available for pitching lessons.

Jim Geldhof – Baseball Instructor

Central Michigan University (MAC Conference) 2001-05 3rd base, 2nd base and left field. 2004 2nd Team Division I All-American. 2005 2nd Team Pre-Season All-American. 2004 &2005 Team Captain Single Season school hits leader. Career school hit leader. Jim is available for hitting lessons.

Jessica Butler – Extra Innings Softball Advisor

2008 All Examiner Softball Team. Went 14-2 with 231 strikeouts to lead the Owls to the IAAM C Conference title. She also batted .734 with 4 homeruns and 43 rbi's. Jessica has signed a letter of intent to play for the Maryland Terrapins NCAA Division I softball team.

Cleve Reynolds

Cleve Reynolds – Baseball Instructor

Cleve graduated Chesapeake high school while playing football,wrestling and baseball. He attended Pensacola Jr.College and Dundalk Community College with a degree in Physical Fitness Technology. He also attended Towson University while playing baseball and then became a graduate assistant. He got is BS degree in Teacher Education/Physical Education and later got his Master's Degree in Sports Medicine from the United States Sports Academy. Cleve has done an internship with team USA weightlifting in 1992 prior to the Olympics. Cleve coached baseball at Loyola College and Essex Community College, he has also run baseball camps for 17years at Towson University,Harford Community College,Dave Johnson's Baseball Academy and Rick Krivda's Baseball Clinics. Cleve has also helped the Baltimore Ravens as a part-time strength coach from 1998-2005 and is also a certified trainer with NCSA. Cleve is in his 20th year as a physical education teacher with Anne Arundel County and Baltimore County Schools.

 
Matthew Brown – Extra Innings Instructor

Matthew Brown – Baseball Instructor

Matt is a hitting, fielding, and catching instructor. Matt has been coaching for over thirty (30) years. He was the starting catcher for Howard Community College and has played for various semi-pro mens' teams, including Union Printers in Baltimore. He has coached baseball from the T-ball level through mens' leagues. He has assisted in running and has also been an instructor for several baseball clinics.

 
Wayne Franklin

Wayne Franklin – Extra Innings Baseball Advisor

Wayne Franklin was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 36th round in 1996. After two years in the minors, Wayne was taken by the Houston Astros in the Rule 5 Draft. After playing just 1 ½ years in the Astros minor league system, Wayne made his Major League debut for the Astros on July 24, 2000. Wayne was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers in Sept 2002. He went 10-13in 2003 for the Brewers with 116 strikeouts. In 2004 Wayne was traded to the San Francisco Giants where he was converted to a reliever. In 2005, after being released by the Giants, Wayne was picked up by the New York Yankees. Wayne was signed as a free agent by the Tampa Bay Rays in January of 2006where he played at the AAA level until his contract was purchased by the Atlanta Braves August 6, 2006. On August 7, 2007 he made his first appearance for the Braves against the Phillies. In 2007 and 2008 Wayne played for the York Revolution. Wayne has also played in Taiwan, Mexico and Venezuela. Wayne is a graduate from UMBC. He is a pitching, fielding and hitting instructor.

 

Greg Burke – Extra Innings Baseball Advisor

Greg is still pursuing his baseball dream as a pitcher in the San Diego Padres orginization where he finished up last season at AA San Antonio where he finished 3rd in the league in saves and had a 2.24 era in 84 innings of work spanning 59 games. He most recently completed the Arizona Fall League which showcases some of the Major League Future All-Stars, while with the Peoria Saguaros. Greg was 1-1 with a save and a 2.51 era in 13 games pitched. Greg attended Duke University with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Sociology and was also a member of the ACC Honor Roll (2003-04). Greg is available for pitching and hitting lessons til he leaves in late February for spring training with the Padres.
